Military Sawtooth Star - Spring 2021

Image
Military Sawtooth Star Spring 2021 This star block will be approximately 9.5 inches square. This style of this block is worry free about the points. From background/blue fabric cut: eight - 3 1/2 inch squares From star/white fabric cut:  one 3 1/2 inch square for the middle and                                           eight 2 1/2 inch squares for the star legs. Draw a line diagonally from corner to corner on wrong side of the 8 white 2 1/2 inch squares. This will be your sewing line. Place 2 1/2 inch white square onto 3 1/2 inch blue square and sew with right side together and match up in one corner. Sew on Drawn line. Do this 4 times. Cut off the excess fabric 1/4 inch away from stitching. You can iron the seams open or to the side.  I ironed them open. Now place the 4  remaining 2 1/2 inch white on the opposite corner and stitch on the line. Cut the excess fabric off and iron again. You will now have 4 "star leg" units. Line your 9 patches as shown in the photo. Sew them

Hive 1 January Block for Diana Disappearing 9 Patch

Image
Blocks for Diana were fun to make.  I have always enjoyed the disappearing 9 patch and it makes a stunning quilt the looks laborious.  I know we are to use our stash but I had just used up all my black and white fabric to make a charity quilt last month.  I was able to find online a black and white charm pack so Diana gets 3 blocks.  It was great having the squares pre-cut.  The lighting is shadowed in the picture, but I think you can get the idea.  Can't wait for February block.   Jayne
